I have a large hemangioma birthmark that covers my entire left thigh. It has bothered me the past 15 years and I have tried everything to stop the itching. It would itch so badly that I would have to wrap it in an ace bandage and wear two pairs of pants so that I wouldn't scratch it in the middle of the night. If I did scratch it at night or during the day, large wounds would bleed and ooze, it was a vicious cycle! I had tried every topical ointment, including hydrocortisone (even though I fundamentally don't agree with using heavy duty chemicals on the skin) but nothing helped long term, and they usually made the skin seem thinner and easier to break when scratched. I was at my wits end one night, crying and up late because of the itching. I had a friend mention that it might be eczema and I did an internet search and landed on your sight.
